On Sunday, a large fire broke out in a multi-story office building in Pitampura, West Delhi, gutting much of the top levels but leaving no survivors.
Guards noticed smoke. Alarm was raised when someone noticed smoke coming from a ventilation panel on the building’s eleventh story. Social media users shared pictures of smoke clouds rising in the sky.
22 vehicles were dispatched to put out the fire after the fire department reported it received the call at 4:25 p.m.
Early investigations indicate that a failure caused the fire to start in the generator compartment on the 13th floor.
For more than two hours, firefighters on a hydraulic platform battled to put out the flames.
According to officials, the fire was totally put out by 7:30 p.m. “We have control of the issue. No one has been hurt, a fire officer named Rajesh Pawar informed the news agency ANI.
The building’s fire safety system was discovered to be non-functional, according to a senior fire officer.
The office was closed because it was a Sunday, and just a few people were able to leave the facility without incident.
According to police, an investigation will be conducted to ascertain the precise cause of the incident. The Netaji Subhash Place metro station is not far from the structure.
